As a member of the Chicago-Toronto tech scene, we are welcoming you to the Inaugural “E2 Event”. This program is being hosted by North of 41 in co-operation with the Canada-U.S. Business Council of Chicago, the Toronto-Chicago Sister Cities committee and The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

This event will bring together the best and brightest stakeholders in the digital, social and mobile technology fields from both cities. The purpose is to connect the entrepreneurs from Chicago and Toronto with potential investors, partners and customers.

North of 41 is a non-profit organization with over 12,000 members across North America whose sole mission is to connect Canadian and American Entrepreneurs in the Mobile, Digital and Social Media space.

1) The Chicago White Sox play the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre starting at 7:07 pm. Entrepreneurs/guests will attend the game and be able to interact with other participants throughout the night. (VIP only)

There will be 5 tables set up:

Table 5 – Cross Border Issues

The attendees will select 1 of the 5 tables in which to participate in the discussion related to the assigned table topic. After 30 minutes, the participants will rotate and select another table topic in which to participate. The table/discussion leaders will remain at their assigned tables.

Afternoon Session – Disruptors 2012 Description:

This event features a select group of leading-edge individuals in conversation with prominent local journalists, including The Globe and Mail’s Report on Small Business editor Sean Stanleigh, to discuss how they are disrupting established business models. Audience members will have a chance to participate during the question periods after each session.

Mark MacDonald, founder of Toronto Food Trucks and the Toronto Street Food Project, a social media-based campaign designed “to generate the political will necessary to get some of the current rules and regulations changed for food trucks and carts.” It enables average citizens to quickly and easily take action by sending letters or using twitter to contact their City Councillor directly.

Paul Gratton, chairman of the board at First Weekend Club, a non-profit organization that is striving to revolutionize the way film lovers engage with Canadian cinema. Whenever a Canadian movie is released, First Weekend Club sends an email to its members to let them know when and where they can see it. And in August, the organization plans to launch First Weekend Flix, a video-on-demand streaming platform that will feature a curated library of the best Canadian films on the market.

Mark Zohar, CEO and co-founder of Trendspottr, a company that analyzes real-time data streams and recognizes emerging trends at their earliest acceleration point, hours and even days before they have become ‘mainstream’.
