Envoy Conversations: Canadian Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino on Canada’s Immigration Policy in 2021 & Beyond

09/Feb/2021 @ 01:00 PM 09/Feb/2021 @ 02:00 PM Online Event
Since 2017, Canada has quickly emerged as a leading destination for global talent. Under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the country passed comprehensive immigration legislation that has made Canada increasingly attractive to foreign nationals seeking employment opportunities. It also established the Global Talent Stream, which enables faster, easier access to high-skilled foreign talent—a game-changer for employers affected by labor shortages.

Moving into 2021, the country will continue its broad embrace of immigration through programs and policies that expedite the immigration process for skilled foreign nationals and incentivize employer activity in key economic areas. Between 2021 and 2023, the country hopes to welcome more than 1.2 million new permanent residents, its highest number in history, making it a dynamic area for business and talent alike to keep an eye on.
